Many people are hesitant to leave their pet at home while they travel. Airlines have started to realize that lots of people would simply fly with another carrier rather than not fly using their pets and hence are finding ways to accommodate pets in the air. Many airlines will not allow a pet to board the plane at all, while some will allow your pet to ride in the cargo hold area of the plane and others will allow small pets to ride in the cabin area of the plane, beneath your seat. Pet-friendly flights allow you to take to the skies with your pet without worrying about boarding the pet at a kennel or hiring a dog sitter. All airlines that permit pets to travel by air will even require that you get yourself a certificate out of your veterinarian that certifies the animal to become healthy which your pet has already established all its shots and it is up to date with immunizations.
