Every year the Skytrax organize an award function and gives annual “World Airport Award” to best airports around the globe for its level of services and facilities. Skytrax bases its rankings on 12.85 million customer nominations across 110 nationalities, and includes 410 airports worldwide. It incorporates passenger satisfaction across nearly 40 categories, from service and shopping to security and immigration. As this award is important to the different portal of entry in each country, majority of airports has continuously aimed to maintain if not make their amenities efficient and world-class.

Singapore Changi Airport

The ever-entertaining Singapore’s Changi Airport once again topped Skytrax World Airport Awards as the best airport in 2014. Its international transit hub has incredible amenities, like a butterfly garden, hotels, movie theatres, rooftop pool, spas and showers, and even a four-story slide. The airport offers a travel experience in itself.

It’s operated by Changi Airport Group and serves as primary hub for Singapore Airlines, Singapore Airlines Cargo, Tiger Airways, SilkAir, Valuair, Jetstar Asia Airways and Jett8 Airlines. It has a total area of 3,200 acres, 3 passenger terminals and serves more than 100 airlines operating flights to about 250 cities across the globe.

Incheon International Airport

Incheon International is the largest airport in South Korea and it was opened in 2001. It is one of world’s largest and busiest airports and is operated by Incheon International Airport Corporation. It is located 48 km west of Seoul and serves as hub for Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Polar Air Cargo.

For nine years in a row (2005–2013), it was rated the best airport worldwide by Airports Council International. Airport authorities claim that average departure and arrival takes only 19 minutes and 12 minutes respectively, significantly lower than the rest of the world, making it one of the fastest airports in the world for customs processing.

The airport has a spa, golf course, ice skating rink, private sleeping rooms, indoor gardens, casino and Museum of Korean Culture. Its duty-free shopping mall has been rated the worlds best for three years in a row in 2012 by Business Traveller. Incheon International Airport also claims that it has only a 0.0001% baggage mishandling rate.

Munich Airport

Munich Airport is the international airport of Munich, the capital of the state of Bavaria in Germany. It is located 28.5 km northeast of Munich near the old city of Freising and is named in memory of the former Bavarian Prime minister Franz Josef Strauss. The airport is a shopping, business and recreation hub and features aesthetically pleasing terminals on the walk to the gate. Many of the walls and ceilings are made of glass, making the airport feel large and open.

It is the second busiest airport in Germany in terms of passenger traffic behind Frankfurt Airport, and the seventh busiest airport in Europe, the world’s 14th busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic and was the 30th busiest airport worldwide in 2013. It’s serves as the secondary hub for Lufthansa including Lufthansa Regional and its Star Alliance partners besides Frankfurt.

Hong Kong International Airport is situated on the island of Chek Lap Kok, also known as Chek Lap Kok Airport. It is main point of entry in Hong Kong and is the home of the world’s largest passenger terminal buildings. It is operated by the Airport Authority Hong Kong round the clock. HKIA is the primary hub for Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, Hong Kong Airlines, Hong Kong Express Airways and Air Hong Kong.

The airport receives flights from 90 airlines and is the primary point of entry for destinations in Mainland China and other parts of Asia making it the 12th busiest airport worldwide by passenger traffic. As the airport is a passenger hub as well as cargo gateway it has more than 60,000 personnel to assure only the best service possible.

It was named the best airport for dining and baggage delivery, and also ranked among the top airports for cleanliness and shopping.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the main international airport of the Netherlands, located 20 minutes southwest of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. It opened in 1916 as a military airfield and has now transformed into one of the busiest airports in the world. It is the fourth busiest airport in Europe in terms of passengers.
It is the primary hub for KLM and its regional affiliate KLM Cityhopper as well as for Arkefly, Corendon Dutch Airlines, Martinair and Transavia.com. The airport also serves as a European hub for Delta Air Lines and as a base for Vueling.
