There is something about the castles which has always fascinated me. Castles are the closest I could get to when I thought of fairy tales as a child and always thought of them as the home of the fairies. Though my thoughts about the castles have changed but they still fascinate me as they did years back. These splendid structures have had me awe-struck many a time and every castle holds a special place but as we are listing down top castles of Europe we have to leave out a few. El Alcazar, Spain: Located in the old city of Segovia, Spain it is one of the most picturesque areas in Spain. Originally built as a fortress, this castle has served multiple purposes. It has also been a royal palace, a state prison, Royal Artillery College and a military academy.
